Puspaham and WALHI Push Promoting the Establishment of Regional Information Commission (KID)

Southeast Sulawesi News_ Kendari - Puspaham (Center for Studies and Human Rights) and WALHI (Forum for the Environment Indonesia) held discussions to establish a Regional Information Commission (KID). Discussion was attended by journalists from various media outlets and members of Parliament Southeast Sulawesi province Suwandi Andi.

Director of WALHI Kisran Makati say if the KID is formed then all information about government in Southeast Sulawesi will be given to the public. During this time tend to be confidential government information.

Kisran said current efforts to establish the KID is being intensively conducted. In addition, Kisran says it takes too the role of government and the Parliament as well as journalists to assist the formation of commissioners KID.

"For example, the budget documents (Budget and Expenditure) or other budgets that are sometimes not transparent. Parliament says the country's secret whereas when Regulation (Local rules) was passed by parliament then it has become public information should be published," said Kisran, Thursday ( 19/03/2015).

KID actual establishment plan has been designed since several years ago but was never formed. Kisran said KID depending on the government's political establishment, if you want to clean up his government and its officials.

Commission I members of Parliament of Southeast Sulawesi, Suwandi Andi said that parliament was never any intention to establish KID in Southeast Sulawesi in 2010, but it was not formed until now. He said, now with a strong spirit of Puspaham and related organizations then he will push for the establishment of full KID.

"The formation of KID to show how important public information on all existing development policies in Southeast Sulawesi," said Suwandi.

Suwandi said KID formation certainly has the support of Governor Nur Alam and parliament. Governors policies that support public information, for example the formation of Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE) about the publication of tenders through electronic.
